Staff Accountant
Job Summary
The Staff Accountant is responsible for supporting the accounting department by maintaining financial records, preparing journal entries, reconciling accounts, assisting with month-end and year-end close processes, and ensuring compliance with accounting standards and company policies. This role plays a key part in maintaining accurate financial information and supporting management reporting.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and record journal entries accurately and timely.
- Perform monthly bank, credit card, and general ledger account reconciliations.
- Assist with month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close activities.
- Maintain and reconcile balance sheet and income statement accounts.
- Support accounts payable and accounts receivable functions as needed.
- Prepare financial reports, schedules, and supporting documentation.
- Analyze financial transactions and investigate account discrepancies.
- Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis activities.
- Support external audits by preparing requested documentation and schedules.
- Ensure compliance with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP), company policies, and internal controls.
- Maintain accurate accounting records and documentation.
- Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes and efficiencies.
- Assist with special projects and ad hoc reporting requests.
Qualifications
Education
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field required.
Experience
- 2-5 years of accounting experience preferred.
- Experience with general ledger accounting, financial reporting and high-volume AP processing

- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting/ERP systems.

Preferred Qualifications
- CPA certification or CPA candidate preferred.
- Experience with ERP systems such as SAP, Oracle, NetSuite, Microsoft Dynamics, or similar platforms.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including PivotTables and VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP.
